Duotone Stash Parawing

Get up to speed with the new Stash from Duotone – the parawing in our product range. The innovative single-skin design with double-skin tips ensures stable flight and effective depower across a wide range of wind conditions and riding angles. Lightweight yet compact, the Stash packs easily – ideal for those seeking the pure gliding sensation over long distances and wanting to enjoy maximum freedom on the go. The STASH was developed over several months by our wing and kite designer Ken Winner in close collaboration with downwind experts Finn and Jeffrey Spencer. The goal: a parawing that not only serves as a propulsion system for the foil, but also masters the unique challenges of downwind foiling – thus making the ultimate flying experience even more accessible. The Stash features a special, ultralight 30g paragliding ripstop canopy that takes off earlier, stays in the air longer, packs more compactly, and absorbs gusts more effectively – thus deliberately setting itself apart from traditional kite and wing materials.

The use of thinner lines was also a crucial step to minimize drag and weight and further optimize pack size – a logical part of our design specifically geared towards parawings. The Stash combines the best of both worlds: the powerful performance of a single-skin wing with the control of double-skin elements. The easily stowable single-skin technology is complemented by closed cells at the tips – for greater stability and control, even when depowered.

The clever design allows for precisely controlled depower with just a simple hand movement, while the always-filled tips reliably maintain tension and ensure controlled flight behavior. A stabilized leading edge and reduced ribs further improve flight stability, glide efficiency, and pack size – for an even more intuitive, lighter, and more efficient flight experience. Ultimately, it's all about the feeling of true foiling when your parawing is perfectly stowed! Single Skin vs. Double Skin - Single skin has a higher lift coefficient than double skin, providing more performance for a given wing size. - Double skin offers greater flight stability, especially at higher flight angles. - Single skin is more compact. - Single skin requires no dewatering. - Single skin with double skin tips dewaters much faster after a dip than full double skin designs. - Single skin with double skin tips is more stable when depowered than full single skin designs.

Recommended Board & Foil Setup: Don't expect parawinging to be as easy as wing foiling! Balancing on your board is more challenging without a stable, inflated wing in your hand, so we recommend using a larger board, especially for your first attempts. Pumping onto the foil requires more legwork. We recommend using a larger glide foil, like the one used for SUP downwind foiling.

A major advantage over SUP downwind foiling is that you can foil with a significantly shorter board, like the Skybrid—it's the perfect choice! If you already have a downwinder board, that will work great too—especially for your first few rides. To make your first sessions more successful, we've put together some recommendations based on your weight and foiling level.

Be aware of the risks of using a parawing.

The bridle lines are thin and can become wrapped around your hands, fingers, or other body parts, especially when caught in breaking waves, which we recommend avoiding. Once the parawing catches wind and the bridle lines are under tension, it can be difficult to free your hands or fingers, potentially causing injury.

Before going out on the water, practice and understand how to launch the parawing into the water to release the tension. Most parawingers use the wing without a leash to avoid tangling the lines and bridle lines. If you release the parawing, it will float on the surface for a while. Make sure you paddle to the wing before it submerges, which makes it difficult to find since only the carbon handle floats. Recognize the risks of changing wind conditions when downwinding, especially in the open ocean! The wind can drop when you're out at sea, making it difficult or impossible to restart your parawing.

Always wear a life jacket, bring your phone and/or a safety tracker, and never go downwind alone. Always keep a visual distance from the shore, which you can reach by paddling with your hands if necessary.
